Only God Can Do It

The purposes that God intends to accomplish in His people are great. Their magnitude is beyond what we can handle in our own strength. These are purposes that pertain to our destinies in Him, and when we seek Him for insight, He faithfully unveils them to us, one portion at a time.

When God reveals His purposes to us, we tend to run off and try to implement them according to our own understanding and plans. But such efforts result in outright failure or they accomplish much less than He desires. The only way to fulfill our destinies in their entirety is to ride along with the Lord and let Him take us through the nooks and crannies of His designated journey.

On that path, we must be flexible, emptying ourselves of our own plans and ideas about how the journey should go. We must also trust in God’s goodness, faithfulness, and purposefulness, making a commitment to rejoice in Him regardless of where the journey takes us.

Our journey with Him will last a lifetime, so while it is vital to remain focused and diligent, we should avoid becoming uptight and stressed out.

Pray: Lord, please reveal your purposes for my life to me. As you do, enable me to follow your plan for their fulfillment rather than devise my own ways. Help me to trust in your faithfulness, and may every day of the journey into my destiny be a day of rejoicing in you. In Jesus Name, Amen.

Meditate: “And I am convinced and sure of this very thing, that He Who began a good work in you will continue until the day of Jesus Christ [right up to the time of His return], developing [that good work] and perfecting and bringing it to full completion in you” (Philippians 1:6 Amplified Bible).
